December To Remember

November 28th, 2011 | Uncategorized | 0 Comments

Fingers crossed

We are pleased to announce that we’re in the running for opening next week for Foster The People at the Crystal Ballroom. Our video for “Hungry Like A Tiger” made the final 5 in 94.7fm KNRK‘s “December To Remember” contest.

This week FTP is checking out videos from the finalists and picking their opener from the batch of contestants. All of the bands that made it to this stage are great and we’re happy to rank among them. That said, “Hungry Like A Tiger” is being featured all week on KNRK and they’ll be announcing the winner on Friday. We’ll post the results on Facebook and Twitter (follow us if you’re savvy to that stuff). Happy Holidays!

On the road in October

October 19th, 2011 | Uncategorized | 0 Comments

Las Vegas and La Grande have been host to some of our favorite tour dates, the rowdy kind of shows that keep us coming back. It would be a gross understatement to say that we’re looking forward to spending the next few days playing special events in these two cities that hold a special place in our hearts.

This Thursday (Oct. 20th) we are playing the Dumpster Dive at Beauty Bar in Las Vegas. The show starts at 7pm and entry is free with a canned food donation. Plus, they’ll be serving ice cold beer out of a couple of brand new *unused* dumpsters. I don’t think there will be any actual dumpster diving, but if you have a line on a pool we are sticking around Friday, let’s have a pool party!

Saturday you can find us playing the Eastern Oregon Film Festival After Party at Ten Depot with Atomic Mamas (Boise) and Gregory Rawlins. The show is free for EOFF wristband holders and $5 for everyone else.

NEW RECORD ANNOUNCED!

Grown Children

From the first euphoric lines of album-opener “Hungry Like a Tiger” (“I’m breathing good air, through good lungs, with a good heart beating”) to the unstoppable catharsis of the 7-minute barn-burner sing-along “Juicy Fruit,” Only Good Thoughts Can Stay weaves a dense fabric of instrumentation around a central narrative patchwork. Lyrically, Mees has forgone the strictly first-person storytelling that characterized 2008’s Caffeine, Alcohol, Sunshine, Money in favor of embodying the perspectives and personal experiences of close friends and family, including his wife (“W.W.J.B.D”), his brother (“Billy Bird”), and a longtime friend (“Inaudible Song”), all of whom shared many of the trials and tribulations that provided inspiration for the record.
